🌈 Red, Blue, & Birthday Beats: Celebrating Peggy at the Share House

On Saturday, March 25th, the Taiwan Share House transformed into a living, breathing rainbow. We threw a massive birthday bash for our incredible friend and event helper, Peggy, and it’s safe to say it was one of the most vibrant and "chaotic" nights in our house’s history.

🌎 A Global Village in One Kitchen

With about 40 people packed into the house, the energy was electric from the start. What made it special was the perfect 50/50 split: half Taiwanese locals and half international travelers.

Because Peggy is a polyglot who speaks fluent Spanish, a huge cohort of her friends from Spain showed up, bringing that high-energy Mediterranean vibe to the party. Mix in some of our newest residents from the US and elsewhere, and you had a perfect "Global Village" vibe where the languages being spoken were changing as fast as the music.

🎨 The Theme: Color Splash (and a Watermelon!)

The rules were simple: Bring your color. Everyone was assigned a color—Red, Yellow, Blue, or Green—and they had to match their outfits and their snacks to it.

  • The Spread: We had tables full of color-coded food (finding blue food in Taipei is a challenge, but our residents are creative!).

  • The "Watermelon" Star: One of the funniest highlights of the night was when someone arrived with a massive watermelon. It didn't just stay on the food table—it became the unofficial mascot of the party!

📸 The Great Watermelon Photoshoot

We couldn't let a giant fruit go to waste without a dedicated photoshoot. The watermelon became the center of dozens of photos, with everyone from the Spanish crew to the locals posing with it like a trophy. It’s these random, unplanned moments—like a 10kg fruit becoming a celebrity—that make share house parties so much fun.

🎧 The Soundtrack: Back-to-Back DJ Sets

Peggy leveled up the party by bringing two of her friends who are burgeoning DJs to handle the music. They set up their decks in the common area and played back-to-back sets that turned the room into a full-on dance floor.

The beats were so good that even the Taipei Police made a brief "guest appearance" to check on the volume! But in true Taiwan fashion, it was handled with a smile; we turned the bass down a notch, and the dancing didn't stop until the early hours.

🏠 Why We Host Events Like This

This party was the perfect example of why the Taiwan Share House is more than just a place to sleep.

  • Cultural Exchange: Where else can you find a Spanish-speaking Taiwanese host bringing together Americans, Europeans, and locals in one kitchen?

  • Community Support: Peggy has been a huge help with our events, and seeing the community turn out to celebrate her proves that our tenants become a family.

  • Memories over Square Footage: We don't just provide rooms; we provide the space for stories like the "Great Watermelon Photoshoot" to happen.
