We Welcomed the Spanish crew from last year Spanish Christmas eve event to our location to once again host another party. On Saturday, January 24th, our share house became the unofficial Spanish embassy of Taipei as we celebrated a very special "once in a lifetime" event: Anyang’s Birthday. As a group of very good great international friends comprised of Taiwan , Spain ,Philippines and other countries they wanted a nice spacious location to jost another celebration for their friend and the space once again became a festive location for them.
Living in Taipei as an international student or foreigner is an incredible adventure you meet many friends from all over the world, but every once in a while, you just need to feel the warmth of your own culture and celebrate it in your cultural style. On Saturday, January 24th, our share house became the unofficial Spanish embassy of Taipei as we celebrated a very special "birthday" event: Anyang’s Birthday.
The night was organized by Spanish students from last years Christmas event , They mentioned " how great it was and wanted to do another event here for birthday party ". and the turnout was a testament to the strength of her friends and international community. From the moment the first guests arrived who was suprisngly Anyang herself and her Taiwanese friend whom she meet doing language exchanges in spain , the common area was buzzing with Spanish music playing in the background and the high-energy chatter that defines a true Mediterranean gathering.
Despite being just a small get-together of very good fiends ; it was a full-scale celebration. We saw faces from Different countries and different schools in taiwan NTU, Shida, and beyond, all congregating in our lounge to give Anyang a birthday she would never forget.

As we always say, "a special event needs a great location." Most students in Taipei are used to tiny studios where you can barely fit a toaster, let alone host twenty friends. The living area maybe be cramped and kitchen table small to not host this kind of event and looking to outside locations might cost a lot but Taiwan share house was
The highlight of the night was seeing our spacious common kitchen in full action. The table was a beautiful mess of:
The Staples: Massive bags of Doritos and classic party snacks that kept the energy high.
Local Meets Global: Skewers (shao kao) and bubble tea sat right next to Spanish favorites, showing the perfect blend of our lives in Taiwan.
The Main Event: A stunning strawberry birthday cake that Anyang held as the entire house sang to her.
The main event: a unconventional birthday cake ,Fried spring rolls a Taiwanese snack with candles as a unique birthday cake.
Anyang Gifts : she received a branded taiwanese shirt ,which showcase her love for taiwan and also got a large bottle of whisky to share with friends.

2.Winding down the night , after the food , the large space in front of the television became a dance floor for as we played K pop music from Blackpink "jump " and other different music like Spanish reggaeton, bad bunny etc. they should start a Spanish k pop group.
3. Everyone received a special 「紅包」(Hong Bao/Red Envelope)with their names from the boss of the night Anyang in true Chinese new year fashion. I don't know if it was intentional but since Chinese new years is around the corner it just fits in with this festivities. * It is a traditional Chinese festival custom to give cash in a red envelope as a gift during Lunar New Year, weddings, birthdays, or other special occasions, symbolizing good fortune, luck, and blessings.

Seeing everyone gathered around our large dining table, sharing stories over skewers and drinks, is exactly why we designed our share house with massive common spaces. You can’t build these kinds of memories in a hallway or a cramped bedroom.
Throughout the night, you could see people huddled together, looking through digital cameras and phones, laughing at the photos they had just taken. In a world where we are often separated by screens, there was something special about seeing everyone physically together, sharing a "scrapbook" of their lives in real-time.
Anyang was even gifted a custom Taiwan-themed t-shirt, a perfect memento of her time here. It’s these small, personal touches that turn a group of friends connected by chance encounters like language exchanges abroad or same share room into a genuinely close family.

The party didn't just happen at the house; it happened because of the house. Having the freedom to host, the space to dance, and a kitchen that can handle a feast is what makes the international student experience here so different.
Anyang’s birthday was more than just a party—it was a reminder that when you have a great location and an even better community, you’re never truly far from home.
